I sometimes resort to Zomato to find brunch spots and this place has a 4.8 rating so I knew what would be my next brunch destination. Little to my surprise this place happens to be in Fitzroy on Gore Street (a little off Johnston Street). Fitzroy is a treasure trove great cafes and eateries; can we crown it foodie paradise already?
Faraday's Cage is a warehouse conversion which has retained his industrial vibe. The place looks small from outside but as you walk-in it appears endless. We went there on a Saturday so we got a spot on the communal table . It has high seating so we could get a view of the entire space which is good for taking photos; gotto pimp the gram!

The menu had us spoilt for choice that means I have to be here again to try the things I can't try today. They have their in-house bakery which is quite loved by the locals so I knew I was having something with bread in it. Apart from their instafamous hotcakes, I saw a lot people with a pretty plate of scrambled eggs. I am a sucker for scrambled eggs so no prizes for guessing what I had. My food arrived and I swear it was too pretty to dig in but hunger prevailed. They were light and fluffy and the hotness of fresh chilli went perfectly with it. The parmesan, crispy shallots and spring onions made it even better. They were one of the best scrambled eggs I have had in Melbourne.

John Doe was in mood for something light and healthy so he went for the house-made pear granola. It looked like a blast of colours. It was great to have coconut milk on the side so that the granola wouldn’t be ridiculously soaked and mushy. It was light yet filling and so fresh. I like that it came in a coconut shell instead of a bowl, lending it a nice green and healthy feel. The only letdown was the poached pear; it was a bit hard if only the pear was poached better the dish would have been as wow as it looked.

Our food was great and all but I hadn't tried their instafamous hotcakes so I gave this place another visit.
Caramelised white chocolate, broken meringue, passionfruit, maple syrup, dehydrated strawberry, lemon balm, mascarpone & berries this one had some much going on and it was all perfectly balanced. They were fluffy and the portion size was generous, I couldn't finish the whole thing.
Let's talk about the coffee!
Coffee is by Dukes Coffee Roasters, one my favourites. They have cold brew and filter options alongside the usual espresso.
To sum things up - Great coffee, spacious seating area, instaworthy ambiance, good mix of options to choose from, in-house bakery, Faraday's cage checks all the boxes.
