High Society, Armadale

I like going to places with a friendly vibe, where it seems like everyone knows almost everyone. One such warm and welcoming place is High Society Cafe on High Street (I see what they did there!) in Armadale. I say that because, as we waited to be shown to our table, I couldn't help but notice the barista greeting a lot of customers by their name and had their orders memorized. Decorwise, they have taken the 'less is more' approach with dark polished timber floors, white tiled and painted walls, dark accents and marble topped tables giving the place a nice homely feel.

High Society happens to be a local favourite so expect a bit of wait to secure a table. Their menu appears to be superfood centric with indulgent options. So whether you’re counting calories or squeezing in a cheat meal, there is something for everyone. My calorie conscious mode was ON so I went for the Supersalad. Quinoa, red rice, kale, cauliflower, beetroot, cherry tomato, pickled jalapenos, carrot, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, ricotta salata, cilantro lime dressing and topped with a perfectly poached egg - it certainly packs a punch!

John Doe can't be bothered with little things like calories and weight hence dines like there's no tomorrow. I instantly knew he will be having haloumi. Afterall, there are very cafes offering a haloumi-centric dish. High Society's haloumi is like a grilled holoumi stack sandwiched between a potato rosti, sautéed kale & spinach at the bottom and thyme roasted field mushroom above. All this topped with a poached egg and a generous sprinkle of mixed seeds and nuts. A balanced act both figuratively and literally.

Let's talk about the coffee!

If you're a regular on the gram, you might know them from their colourful coffees. Their coffee menu offers your choice of milk or non-milk based espresso drinks along with an assortment of instafamous non-traditional lattes aka red velvet, blue mermaid and black nougat lattes. They also have some juices, shakes, smoothies and a few alcoholic options; cheers to that!
